Get ready for this, Japan Crate family!
This month we selected four of the craziest Japanese gums we could find!
Gum #1:
This gum is based on the Japanese soda, ramune.
Ramune is sold at summer festivals in Japan and is a traditional symbol of summer!
These gum balls are shaped like the iconic ramune marble that you must push down into the bottle to open the soda. Plus, they fizz in your mouth!
This is as close as you can get to drinking soda, without actually drinking soda.
Gum #2:
The Japanese candy industry is constantly inventing new candies and flavors. Each candy aims to be the most innovative and ridiculous. This pop rocks gum is a classic example.
The powdery gum fizzles in your mouth like pop rocks before turning into something chewier.
See that character? He is part of the “Little Gang.” He’s a little gum gangster!
Gum #3:
This Kirby gum comes with five different gum ball flavors:
Combine different color gum balls to transform them into uniquely Japanese flavors.
Here is a translation of the instructions included on the package:
But watch out for the grey gum ball! It will numb your taste buds so that you can’t taste the other flavors in your mouth.
Gum #4:
This crazy potion gum paints your tongue black and red.
This gum will show you how you chew–the parts of your mouth that you use the most will be the darkest!
Don’t forget to take a selfie and #japancrate #potiongum if you look a little spoooooky!
Which gum did you have the most fun trying?
The potion gum is a total win! I shared with a friend split it exactly in two and popped both sticks in our mouths. Her turned pitch black and mine blood red. We were amazed.
Loved the ramune gum (#1) and the pop rocks gum (#2) was pretty unique, I really loved this crate!
I think it would be really amazing if we could get some translations for the Talking Puppy Chocolate puns as well!
Heads up with the Kirby gum, guys.
Apple + yogurt = play dough!
The ramune gum was by far my favourite! I wouldn’t say no to seeing that in my crate again!
I actually love that the box came with a varied assortment of gums. I love gum and this introduced me to three new gums that I am now trying to find at local specialty markets.
