Hello everyone!
We wanted to share the sweets & treats in February’s Japan Crate!!
Let’s go ahead and kick it off with our two DIY Kits this month!!!
Nericcho Soft Cider/Strawberry Cones
Everyone got one of these as a bonus in their Japan Crate. These quick mix cones were a lot of fun! We got the Cider flavor, and when complete were reminded of the lemon-lime of Sprite!
Heart Oekaki Choco DIY
A few pieces of advice for optimal chocolate creation!!! Make sure to pay attention to your chocolate when it is in the microwave, you don’t want to accidentally burn it! Also, once you’ve placed your sugar beads, be VERY careful about moving the tray! Aside from that, the chocolate itself was a super creamy milk-chocolate! The colored sugar adds a nice snap as well!
Now that we’re through our DIY kits, let’s take a closer look at all the fruity soda combo candies that popped up.
Coris Grape & Soda Kajirittyo
This chewy treat has a taffy like consistency at first, then feels like sugary soda as it continues to dissolve! The grape flavor is strong up front then mellow out as you continue to chew.
Toppu Trio Stick Gum
Cider – Sweet and refreshing! The gum has a such a smooth consistency that perfectly complements the cider flavor.
Cola – We love colas and this gum captures the flavor and experience 100%! Tastes just like kola nut!
Grape – We have three very distinct grape flavors this month! This grape gum is not overpowering and has a good life to it!
Twinbo Drink Gummy
Red/Yellow – The sugar coating on this gummy has a great sour flavor to it! The cola and lemon flavors alone are both very distinct. They combine to create what would be a really interesting soda!
Blue/Purple – The purple portion of these gummies is Ramune flavored! It’s very tart and recognizable. The blue-green portion is lime! Together they made for a great lime flavored Ramune!
With our fruit & soda flavors out of the way, let’s have a taste of our single flavor fruit candies!
Yaokin Budou Grape Gummy
!!!!! These extra chewy gummies are reminiscent of concord grape juice! So delicious!!!
Yaokin Moguchuu Strawberry
A gentle combination of strawberry and cream. These sweets are not quite as chewy a a Hi-Chew… It’s texture lies somewhere between Hi-Chew and Starburst.
Super Lemon Sour Candy
Holy Smokes!! A sour candy with multiple layers. This sour drop is REALLY sour right off the bat! Over time it becomes an excellent lemon flavored drop!
We’ll round out our review of February with a little sweet and a little savory!
Petit Pastel Ice Cream Cookies & Chocolate
Make sure to take a peek inside this chocolate box! There are really cute illustrations and games inside! Image a bite-sized chocolate covered cookie. The combination of chocolate and crunch is amazing!
Chip Star Norishio
After having so many sweets it was great to swap to these chips! Don’t let seaweed scare you! These delicious crispy snacks have a great balance between the salt and seaweed. A+++
We have some more blogs to cover Ramune as well as the Mini Ramen Bowls in Premium crates, so make sure to check them out!! Also, please let us know what you enjoyed the most this month!!
I make YouTube vides
Loved the lemon drops, but I think I shouldn’t have eaten more than a couple… too sour, now my mouth kind of hurts :c (still worth it)
As someone who usually dislikes the taste of seaweed, I was pleasantly surprised at the chips! From your description, I kind of expected them to be salter, but they had a nice, mild flavor.
I haven’t tried the DIY kits yet, but of what I’ve snacked on, the grape & soda Kajirittyo was definitely the best. The flavor and texture were really fantastic! The only real disappointment for me was the gum – it barely lasted five minutes of chewing before it got unusually sticky and started dissolving. The flavors were excellent while they lasted, though! Can’t wait to go home and try one of the DIYs tonight!!
I REALLY liked the chips. The sour lemon candy was surprisingly good, since I usually hate lemon (lime is MUCH better!). I also really like the gums that turn into candy and just dissolve…a nice solution to gum pollution!
I want it to come to Brazil!!! Ç.Ç
I really liked this Japan Crate!
I didn’t get either of the Yaokin candies.
🙁
Delicious candy !!
This was my first crate and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the taffy that dissolves and the chips. I’m a bit jealous of the premium subscribers because the ramen bowl and ramune drink are awesome!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed everything~! The chips are pretty amazing!!
Any chance of those Sweet Potato Chip Star chips coming in a future box? I seriously love the flavor of Japanese sweet potato, and can’t always get the fresh ones, so any snacks you send with that flavor will be more than welcome in this house!
We can definitely try to get these in a future crate!!!
This Japan crate was amazing! Along with all of the delicious treats, I loved the ramen bowl. It made me so happy when I saw it! This is probably my favorite crate so far. Thanks guys!
We’re so happy to hear that it was your favorite!!! We really had a lot of fun curating this months crate! <3
I was a little concerned that the chips had a warning label applied that some of the ingredients were fount to be carcinogenic. I subscribed to the crate for my granddaughter and was not happy when I read the label.
Hi Suzanne! The label was in regards to the seaweed and MSG contained in the chips! In California, Prop 65 requires that warning labels like these be in view of the public. They’re also posted in all Starbucks and at Gas Station pumps!
My crate didn’t come with Yaokin Moguchuu Strawberry or Yaokin Budou Grape Gummy. But I see there were kit kats, inside my Feb crate instead, which isn’t mentioned above. What happened?
Oh no!! Make sure to email our Support Team about those missing items!! [email protected]
The Green Tea Kit Kats were a bonus bonus item we just threw in!!
Can’t wait to give it to my son on the 14th,sounds amazing and if so I’ll continue the subscription!!!
This was our first crate and I have to say that between my daughter and me there was nothing left! We loved it! And my daughter especially loved the little ramen bowl! So glad we subscribed! Thank you!
We’re so happy that you loved it! ^__^ Thanks for being part of the family!
Mad a YouTube video. My son’s first Japan Crate. LOVED IT!!!! Making the cones and the Heart Oekaki Choco DIY was so much fun. If you like candy this is the way to go
I thought the Ice cream cider DIY and Coris Grape was my most favorite candies! I didn’t like the Chips, unless I had a glass of water to go with them. I was worried about prop 65. We don’t have that in NC, but one time didn’t hurt. I made fudge out of the DIY chocolate and it looked great! And it was soft enough to bite into.
Just finally got around to making the DIY chocolate from this crate. Couldn’t get the chocolate to melt fully, and ended up doing it partly melted so it wouldn’t burn. Still got it to work as it had turned somewhat into a spread, so I just spread it on where it was supposed to go. Did mean the design was impossible to keep in place, but the candy still came out great! I’ll have to figure out a better way of melting the chocolate if I ever do something similar again.
