Starbucks released its American Cherry Pie Frappuccino on 4/13! We couldn’t resist tasting a slice of the Pie, so we headed to our nearest Starbucks for a taste test!
When we walked in we noticed that almost everyone was trying out the new drink! Based on everyone’s faces it looked like it was going to be a good ^.^
The advertisement was such a tease while we waited~
やった (Yatta)!! We finally got it!
MUST POKE HOLE IN CRUST
The drink was delicious, it really tasted like a dessert! While it didn’t taste exactly like a cherry pie, it did maintain the cherry flavor. The drink felt like a creamy vanilla soft-served ice cream mixed with Maraschino Cherries. The crust smelled and tasted just like a waffle cone.
If you crush the crust and mix it with the drink~ it helps add a more “pie-esque” texture.
Inside the drink, you could find squashed cherries, much like a pie, and cream that felt like it was mimicking the whipped cream on top of your Thanksgiving dessert.
Overall, it’s a great new addition to Starbucks Japan’s lineup. The American Cherry Pie Frappuccino turned out to be a creamier, milkier version of a cherry pie. For 640 yen (~US$5.88) we definitely recommend picking one up if you can!
